Operation Christmas Child

Yes I realize Christmas is a few months away...but I wanted to share this with all of you. Every year we do Toys For Tots and our kids love to "go shopping" for the special toy. And although we will probably still participate in that, I just learned of another great family fun project to get the kids involved in giving to others in need. It is called Operation Christmas Child. The kids are very excited and are finally at the age of understanding a little better.
They both got to pick what age range and gender they wanted their "stuff" to be for and then they decorate a shoebox. You can also buy the rubbermaid containers that are similar to shoeboxes. And then whenever we are out and about they have started looking for things to put in their shoeboxes. It has taken the focus off of "buy me this" "I want that" and put it on the little boy and girl that will be receiving the shoebox. The website gives lots of ideas of what to put in there (toys, school supplies, t shirts, personal hygeine items, pj's, shoes, etc....) Walker's preschool is going to be an official drop off site but you can also send them directly to the organization. National Week is November 17th-24th, so there is plenty of time! If you are interested in participating I can bring the boxes to Walker's school if you get them to me :)

Happy Shopping!
