"Do baby birdies go to heaven?"

It is with a heavy heart that I am reporting that we, I mean Mama Robin lost a baby. He/She went overboard sometime Monday I think. She was the runt of the clutch and did not seem to be growing like the others. The other four are thriving and fighting for worms. Mama Robin is doing a fantastic job protecting her babies from would be predators. She even scared me off the other day as I attempted to plant a few last things in the window box. I had to cover my head a few times because she seemed awful close and then I gave up and went inside until I had backup. I think my exact words were, "This is f'ing crazy!" I didn't want an eye gouged out over a petunia!
